Protecting the health of the residual limb is a challenging issue. The forces applied to the remaining limb can cause wounds or skin damage, which may lead to the temporary or permanent discontinuation of the prosthesis, consequently affecting daily activities and reducing the individual’s quality of life. Liners act as a second skin by adding a layer between the residual limb and the socket (the socket is the part of the prosthesis that holds the remaining limb) and reduce the transferred force between the two. Liners are suitable for use at any level of leg amputation.
